Yesterday we had our first classes. For one of them (Culture of Tibet) this meant going into the tourist city near by (Macleod Ganj), taking a tour of the temple that is there, which is also on the same premises as where the Dalai Lama's house is and then we got to go look around the town and shop and things. Shopping here is amaazing.
The list of things I got:
- shawl/blanket of yak wool
- a cool purse bag
- fingerless gloves
- 2 dresses
- an awesome scarf
- a cell phone with minutes to call the U.S.
- 3 post cards
Guess the cost? All of that for $70.. Of course its like 3000 rupees. But still. Thats a deal if I ever saw one. And the cell phone was half of that. I'm buying so many things here. It's wonderful.
Here's a picture though (not that I took.. takes too long to upload) of the streets of Macleod Ganj. There are two main streets and this is a part of one of them.
Click on the picture. I know its real little. Thats the only way it would upload.
megs! i can't see the picture! not sure if it's just me though.
